Experience the Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX®® Cosmetic or Botulinum Toxin A is a purified protein that can be used to soften and smooth wrinkles and lines to allow for a more refreshed, youthful appearance. At Dental Arts of New Hampshire, we are happy to provide this service in addition to our cosmetic dentistry treatments. Dr. Ashley Pinette is certified by the American Academy of Facial Esthetics to perform BOTOX® Cosmetic therapy, along with several injectable dermal fillers. We use BOTOX® Cosmetic at our Bedford and Salem, NH, offices to enhance our patients' features and treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.
How BOTOX® Cosmetic Works
BOTOX® Cosmetic or Botulinum Toxin A is a purified protein that is injected into the muscles to temporarily block muscle contraction and reduce dynamic lines and wrinkles. Careful placement of BOTOX® can address a range of issues, including:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Furrows between the brows
- Facial lines and wrinkles
- TMJ disorder - sore jaw muscles, clenching and grinding
Patients who suffer from tension headaches and migraines may also benefit from BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments.
Why Choose a Dentist for BOTOX®
Many patients are surprised to discover they can visit their dentist for BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. There is a mistaken impression that only plastic surgeons and dermatologists can provide treatments using injectables. However, dentists are uniquely qualified. Training during dental school involves intensive studies of the oral and maxillofacial anatomy and muscles.
By combining her knowledge acquired in dental school with additional coursework in BOTOX® and dermal fillers, Dr. Pinette can deliver outstanding results. She can use BOTOX® to enhance the results of other cosmetic dental procedures, reduce discomfort from overactive muscles, and provide an overall more youthful appearance.
What to Expect with BOTOX®
At Dental Arts of New Hampshire, we can perform BOTOX® treatments as part of a regular appointment or as a standalone procedure. This service typically only takes a few minutes and does not require anesthesia.
Most patients see noticeable improvement in lines and wrinkles within a 5-10 days of their procedure. However, results will likely continue to improve for up to a month. Patients with TMJ Disorder can expect similar improvement, though they may need to supplement BOTOX® therapy with a night guard.
The results of BOTOX® Cosmetic typically last three to four months.
You may experience some temporary side effects, such as minor bruising or swelling around the injection area. Regular maintenance appointments every 3-4 months can help to maintain the effects of your treatment.

I have very bad anxiety when it comes to the dentist. But the staff at both facilities are very attentive, and they show concern and make sure you feel comfortable. They also take their time explaining things. I appreciate that.Rima A.
